Where to go in Ubud
U B U D ,
A town that lies in the middle of Bali which captures many tourist's heart. This town is enriched with lush rice paddy fields, cultural temples, majestic waterfalls and friendly locals. There are just too many endless place to explore! This time I decided to make a short 3 days trip to Ubud with 3 itineraries on the list which are the famous Tegalalang Rice Terrace, Mount Batur and Nungnung Waterfall. It was actually a surprise birthday present trip for my bf.
THINGS YOU NEED
1. Local Simcard from TELKOMSEL booth. You will find it upon exiting the airport.
They have different data plan available. I bought 20GB data for IDR 300,000. It can be used as hotspot as well.
2. Airport Transfer
We opted to take GO-JEK as our transport to Ubud and it only costs IDR 200,000.
Upon exiting the Arrival Hall, do not be alarmed by taxi / private drivers storming to you and offering expensive deals for example quoting IDR 400-500,000 / way.
Other than that,it is better to book with your hotel transport.
EXPLORING UBUD
There are many ways to explore Ubud. You can book a tour agent, personal driver, bike or tour provided by your hotel. My boyfriend an I decided to rent a scooter/bike. It only costs IDR 70,000 per day.
The best part is you are able to enjoy the cool air breeze, sceneries of rice paddy fields along the way and stop whenever you want because the bike is so convenient to park alongside of the road.
DAY 1
Checked in to PADMA UBUD RESORT located at Jalan Kejang. We were welcomed with fresh orange juice and to my surprise this place was amazing and exceeded our expectations.UBUD TRADITIONAL ART MARKET
which was only 5 minutes walking distance.DAY 2
We started our day with an early simple and yet delicious breakfast provided by the resort with a choice style of egg with toast and comes with a plate of fruits as well. Our first stop was the
TEGALALANG RICE TERRACE
which is located 22 minutes ride away from our resort. We stopped at the Ceking Rice Terrace Cafe where they provide free parking and free coffee / tea tasting. Of course there was a catch.. which they would suggest you to buy their product but no harms done if you don't want to. In Ubud, they are famous for their LUWAK COFFEE.
This is a type of coffee that includes partly digested coffee cherries eaten and defecated by the Asian palm civet.
At this cafe, you can enjoy free coffee&tea tasting, beautiful view of the rice terrace view and sit on the swing as well.
From there you can trek to the famous rice terrace and it takes you almost an hour to the other exit. We did not go all the way as the weather was too hot to trek. You need a lot of cardio for this one!
We then head on to our next stop which is
MOUNT BATUR
to have lunch at Lakeview Restaurant with a scenic volcano view.It was an hour journey from Tegalalang Rice Terrace.
With a heavy tummy and food coma, it was time to make our way to
NUNGNUNG WATERFALL
which took us another hour more. The road was quite dangerous as we ride through mountainous areas. Just be extra cautious with the steep turnings.
We have to climb on the hundreds of stairs to get to the bottom of the river and see the sights of beautiful waterfalls. The waterfall is located near the cave. You will see a beautiful green scenery filled by a lot of trees surrounding the waterfall.
DAY 3
PURA TAMAN SARAWASTI TEMPLE
We managed to visit this beautiful temple Kingdom of Ubud which is dedicated to honor the Hindu Goddess Sarawasti, the goddess of learning, literature and art.Till then,it comes to the end of our adventure in Ubud but will definately come back to visit more places! 😘
